About Baseka

24 Oct 2008

Baseka is a Blackback who likes to play, but he fools around less than Kongomani and Mukunda.

Time’s Up! Baseka telling rangers that the interview is over.

The Rugendo family is known for leaving the park to eat corn and other produce in the farmers’ fields – and when the farmers try and chase the gorillas away it is always Baseka who puts up the most resistance to returning! Despite this he is not aggressive – when we visit him he just seems playful and seems to enjoy gorilla life to the max.

Baseka is the name of a Ranger who died who worked at Lulimbi station on the southern shores of Lake Edward. Baseka is worthy of the name.
